Emergency Call Centers - In urgent cases at nights, on weekends or during religious holidays, you can call the Meuhedet call center or other nighttime
call centers that have signed an agreement with Meuhedet.
This is a paid service, however, depending the degree of urgency as per the national health insurance law, Meuhedet might partially reimburse you for the costs.

The Israeli Health Care System
On January 1, 1995, the National Health Insurance Law (NHI) came into effect in Israel.
This law enshrines the right to health insurance for each and every Israeli resident, and defines a basic basket of health services. Israeli residents now have greater freedom of
choice regarding their health-care providers, since the law gives them the right to choose among four different health-care providers.
The basic basket of services
This basic basket, which is given by all health plans, includes physician's visits, diagnostic and laboratory services, paramedical services, physical therapy, speech therapy,
medical equipment, rehabilitation, hospitalizations, prescription medications, and more. Not every type of service, treatment or prescription is available in the basic basket.
Most services require a one-time quarterly copayment.
Supplementary insurance
Health-care providers are permitted to offer their members supplementary services, called "supplementary insurance" or "bituah mashlim." This additional coverage includes services
and products not included in the basic basket of services. Coverage differs from insurance in two key ways: first, it is not individually tailored, but rather constitutes a
predefined package where the premium is defined by age alone; and second, nursing care is not included in supplementary coverage, and is thus billed separately.
Age and/or pre-existing medical conditions are irrelevant when applying for supplementary health insurance in Israel. Most healthcare providers offer several supplementary plans, each
of which includes a wider selection of medications; consultations with professionals outside of the health plan; second opinions; dental medicine; surgery abroad; and complementary
medicine including chiropractics, homeopathy, etc. Specific services may entail a waiting period.
The Meuhedet health fund is in constant growth. The fund was founded in 1974 following the merger of the Amamit and Merkazit funds, and today has over 250 clinics throughout the country,
n cities, towns and villages. In the past two years, the fund has recorded the highest growth among Israeli health-care providers, adding many new members. Today, the fund insures over
a million people, and its numbers are growing. According to Health Ministry figures, Meuhedet has been the fastest growing fund since 1995.
Meuhedet places major emphasis on the level of service and medical professionalism, and repeatedly wins first place among all health funds in customer satisfaction surveys.
At the service of our insured is a 24-hours-a-day call center, for arranging appointments, receiving information, purchasing overseas travel insurance, and more. The fund also
operates a website that provides laboratory results, appointments, details about payments, medications, full information about the available services and more.
Meuhedet provides the following services:
Members of the Fund can choose any doctor, without preconditions. Over 3,600 doctors are employed by Meuhedet.
Meuhedet has four central laboratories, outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment, that offer tests for members.
Meuhedet has its own institutes, as well as connections with affiliated private institutes. These include imaging, physical therapy, cardiology,
minor surgery, dental clinics, child development, mother-and-child clinics, ophthalmology, fertility, women, diabetes and more.
Almost all of the country's hospitals serve those insured by Meuhedet.
Meuhedet operates 40 pharmacies and its prescriptions are accepted by most of the country's pharmacies and drugstore chains.
Why Sign Up for Supplementary Insurance
The National Health Insurance Law, insuring every Israeli resident, is undoubtedly a milestone for Israeli public healthcare. Naturally, however, the healthcare services covered
by this law are not always the best or most comprehensive that modern medicine can offer. Therefore, the Meuhedet health-care provider advises its clients to sign up for one of
its supplementary insurance programs.
Today, Meuhedet can ensure that its clients are provided with the most advanced treatment available. But it cannot do so as part of the basic service basket determined by the Ministry
of Health. Signing up for one of the supplementary health insurance programs will provide access, as needed, to important medical resources.
It must be emphasized that supplementary insurance does not only cover emergencies. A wide variety of services have not been included in the basic health basket, including complementary
medicine, preventive medicine, paramedical services and dentistry, and these can definitely improve your quality of life. Supplementary insurance will provide you with these services
free of charge, or at significant discounts.
Additional Health Services
Meuhedet also offers additional healthcare resources to broaden the scope of services provided by the law. The fund enables those insured to receive advanced services of the highest
quality and speed available, in cooperation with various medical centers and with the close assistance and support of professional medical bodies.
Meuhedet Adif
- The program offers surgery, treatment and transplants in Israel and abroad, consultations with specialists, the purchase of medications
not provided by the health care basket, examinations and diagnosis in the fields of fertility and midwifery, treatments needed for child development, discounts on dental
treatment, preventive medicine, complementary medicine, emergency ambulance services, rehabilitation and recovery, psychological treatment, and more.
Meuhedet C
- Expanding on Meuhedet Adif in various medical fields by adding a small additional contribution from members, Meuhedet C allows the members to
benefit from unique medical services at significant discounts, such as collecting and preserving umbilical cord blood, hearing and concentration diagnoses, dental transplants,
cosmetic surgery, home medical services etc.
Supplementary Nursing Insurance
Meuhedet Zahav
- Meuhedet's supportive insurance plan enables patients in need of care and their families to choose between institutional care, the assignment
of a home caregiver (Israeli or foreign), or the payment of compensation for five years, all at a low cost adjusted according to age. Meuhedet Zahav is considered a unique and
advanced plan, and is the best available supportive insurance program.
Dental Clinics
- Meuhedet has a chain of 36 dental clinics throughout the country. Services in these clinics include the full range provided in this field, with
some of the most advanced treatments available. Over 300 dentists, including specialists, provide solutions in different areas, such as clinics for children and complex mouth
rehabilitation for adults, all free of charge or at a significant discount. Meuhedet is the only health-care provider that offers free dental care for children up to 12
years of age.
Pain Clinics / Complementary Medicine
- The Fund has 18 clinics for treating pain and for providing complementary medicine services. Each clinic is headed by an M.D. with extensive
expertise in complementary medicine. Treatments available in these clinics include acupuncture, chiropractic, homeopathy, hypnosis, reflexology, biofeedback, and more.
Those insured by Meuhedet Adif or Meuhedet C are eligible for discounts on these treatments.
Sports Medicine Center
- In 2001, the fund opened the country's largest and most advanced sports medicine center. The center serves all those engaged in physical
activities, from professionals to amateurs. The center provides medical approval for athletic activities, medical and psychological examinations, precise guidance by
experts on recommended sporting activities, diagnosis and treatment of sports-related medical problems, comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation following sports injuries,
and nutritional advice.
Welfare Institutions
Meuhedet owns senior citizens' homes that offer the highest standard of service, and two hotels: the Canaan Spa in Safed, and Bally Tiberias. Members are entitled to discount
rates as guests.

Your warm connection with Meuhedet goes through the community clinic. Here you will find family doctors, nurses and pediatricians who are there to provide you with initial treatment,
and refer you, as needed, to specialists or additional treatments. You have the right to select your own doctor. You can choose from any doctor in the Meuhedet directory of services,
where you will also find each doctor's reception hours.
Usually, you will be required to schedule an appointment in advance. The clinic nurses are at your service throughout the clinic's opening hours. Bedridden patients are entitled to
nursing services at home.
Specialist Doctors, Especially for You
At Meuhedet you will find specialist doctors in the various medical fields. As needed, you will be able to select the specialist doctor with whom you wish to consult.
However, before visiting the specialist, we recommended that you see your family doctor or pediatrician, who will direct you to the most appropriate doctor, and provide

Lab Services, to Your Door
Meuhedet medical centers provide various laboratory services. Samples can be sent to the lab through the nearest clinic, or at special collection points that can be found
in various locations in many cities. The results can be obtained in a variety of ways: through the Internet, from the clinic's computerized machine, or by fax directly to your doctor.
Pharmacies
Meuhedet operates a network of pharmacies that are located at the clinics or in various medical centers. Meuhedet clients can also purchase medications at any of the hundreds
of private or external pharmacies that have signed an agreement with us. At these pharmacies you will be offered service very similar to the service offered by the Meuhedet pharmacies.
